Intro to Hack Back
In this module, we will explore the concept of hack-back. Specifically, we are going to discuss offensive actions which disrupt or impede an ongoing attack. This is meant to be a gentle overview/introduction to offensive development in general. The caveat is we are focusing on leveraging an attacker’s C2 channel against them.
By the end of this module, you will understand:
- The legal challenges of hack-back
- How a justifiable defensive hack would work
- The risks and challenges inherent in offensive operations
- Different types of C2 architecture
- The threat modeling and vulnerability research process
- Different C2 tasking mechanisms and how to attack them
